Youth Service Award Recipient
Jeff Nelson (Super Fan)
Jeff Nelson is known throughout Anoka as “Super Fan”! He has been a positive role model for our Anoka youth for over thirty years. Super Fan can be seen not only around our community but throughout the state of Minnesota. Jeff’s little orange Aveo can be found at any ice arena, field house, football, soccer, lacrosse field or baseball field. It has even been seen in the middle of a cornfield throughout the year. He supports the teams by announcing games and matches, taking stats, filming and announcing for the QCTV cable company. He also helps with concessions and cheering as loud and proud as can be for every sport and every level at the high school.
Jeff has been a volunteer at Anoka High School, the Anoka Legion Baseball Team and Anoka Bucs Town ball team. Super Fan has always and forever will be wearing Maroon and White. If anyone even teases him about wearing Black and Gold or Red and White, he just folds his arms and says, “Yeah RIGHT!” Super Fan was born and raised in Anoka, graduating from Anoka High School in 1976. Every year he volunteers to help with security at the Senior All-Night Party at “his door”.
Super Fan has touched the lives of thousands of our students and their families throughout his many years of volunteering. Jeff has an amazing ability to remember stats and stories from years ago. He has a kind heart and sharing hands, always willing to help where needed. Jeff is invited to an average of 70 Graduation Open Houses a year. This truly indicates the positive presence he makes in the lives of our children.
After games and events Jeff can always be found at his favorite neighborhood Applebee’s! He loves the food but he also loves the company. On any given night, there are always students, coaches, teachers, friends and families who stop by. One can always find Super Fan on his favorite stool, remote in hand with a smile and a story to share! Thank you Jeff, for your continued support and positive influence on the Anoka youth!
